Update on our 2013 Scholars
SAS Ai Field Team Director, Mr Albert D Bunoan secured the photos of our newest scholars sending them to us for processing. We immediately went to work and came up with this beautiful logo rendition showing our two scholars (their names arranged in alphabetical order).
Justine Mico B Lazo brings with him a wealth of work experience gained helping his family tend to the fields. His parents, Mr Roger and Mrs Mary Jean Lazo, work the fields of a family friend. The fields are in Bangar, La Union. The whole family moved to Bangar so they could remain together under one roof. Their home is a humble and modest dwelling with spartan surroundings situated in the middle of the rice fields. An outcropping of shrubs, bullrush, bamboo, bananas and other fruit trees form a perimeter around the house. It's peaceful and bucolic there and Justine loves the fields and would much rather spend his time there tending to the livestock rather than hang out with friends in town. Justine certainly is a young man of good and solid principles.
Katherine Joy Cardenas is the grand daughter of the late Gloria Cardenas-Anagaran. Gloria was a member of the most successful class of SAS alumni ever to attend and graduate from Saint Augustine School during the school's first 100 years of service. During the batch 58's golden jubilee in 2008, Gloria informally asked the class to look after her grand daughter Katherine Joy should anything happen to her. She must have had a premonition. It wasn't too long after her request that she became ill with cancer, eventually succumbing to the illness and going on, well ahead of us, to the heavenly realm. SAS Class 1958 sponsors Katherine Joy's school needs.

We are always looking for bright and motivated young people who come from disadvantaged families so we can help them get a good high school education at SAS through financial aid. You can also help us by making a tax deductible donation to the scholarship fund. Any amount you wish to donate helps a young student attend school.
