Wow, I have never received a response that was so quick or so warm and welcoming! I've been on a few message boards and was always the one who was duly ignored by the rest... You know, I've observed that the people who become fans of Peter Stormare seem to be genuinely nice and friendly. This only confirms that!

I had seen him in Minority Report and The Lost World and hadn't really paid much attention to him until I happened to catch the last half of Armageddon. I remember being impressed with his performance and wondering who he was.

Very well put-- couldn't say it better myself! I really like his ability to actually become the character, not just act it. His characters never seem fake or transparent, they seem to be genuine and have a depth that goes beyond what is required in the script. If that makes any sense at all!

Thanks! :)

Yeah, that's very true. It's the same way at Mark Hamill boards too, people are very nice. I think a big part of it is that Peter's just such a cool guy, and by cool I mean, happy and doing his own thing -- almost merry inside, I'd say. A lot of "big Hollywood actors" have bad reputations, stuff like fighting or being mean to people, etc., and it seems like the fans like them for it and act accordingly. It's probably not true for all of them, of course. I just think actors who are good people attract good people as fans.

Ah, Armageddon!! That's what finally reeled me in, Lev Andropov! I've actually met Mark Hamill twice, and got him to sign my copy of "Hamilton." He was so surprised to see it, he started talking all about the film, going on about how good Peter Stormare was. He'd also talked about him in interviews, that Peter was in Armageddon and everyone should see it because he's so good. It took me forever to do so, but when I did, I was very impressed!

You've put it well, too! I'm really excited about his next few films, that "Brothers Grimm" film and this new one where he's playing Satan himself! That should be interesting!

FYI, there's also a message board at www.imdb.com about Peter. It hasn't been visited lately either, but it's still fairly cool. Most of the people there visit once and never return, but you might like seeing it, in addition to this one.

Cheers!

I couldn't agree with you more. I went to public high school for my senior year--my only year, thank goodness--and noticed that the individuals attracted to a certain celebrity tended to possess the same traits or personality of that celebrity. The actors who were notoriously short-tempered or otherwise mean, for lack of a better word, tended to attract short-tempered or mean fans. The opposite was true for the nicer celebrities, the good attracted the good, so to speak. I guess this brings a whole new meaning to the phrase: "birds of a feather flock together"!

I also noticed a similar phenonmenon regarding certain types of films. For example, I found those who were fans of "Star Wars" to be fun, friendly, and outgoing. Similarly, the fans of the "Lord ot the Rings" trilogy are generally a fun, lively, and kind group. I suppose it has something to do with the underlying themes of "good vs. evil" in these films.

You've met Mark Hamill twice? Wow! That's terrific! I'm sure you've been asked this a million times, but how did you meet him (twice!)? (My computer was having difficulty pulling up some of the messages on this board...) Even though I have heard he's one of the nicest actors around, I wouldn't have had the courage to ask for his autograph. I've been lucky enough to meet two actors who played very minor characters in "Star Wars" and I could barely speak!

Yes, it should!I can't wait to see what he does in that role! :) I heard he's also supposed to be in another film with Nicole Kidman called "Birth". It's supposed to be released later this year. I'm not much of a Nicole Kidman fan, but I just might go simply to see Peter Stormare!

Thanks for the info! I did check it out and found it to be very interesting.

Hey!!

Are you American? If so, you are lucky! Where I live now, the schools are very bad, you would not like to learn there! But do not worry, you won't learn there!

I should mention here that I am also fan of band Duran Duran, and all through the "Golden Years" as I call it, I could not even fellowship with other fans! The people that were fans were very mean, and somehow believed that if they had Record A, then it meant they had higher priority in band's eye. Maybe they thought "If I have Record A, B, C, then band will love me!" Not! It's very sad. And today, Duran Duran fans are not always nicest, either. Some are very good people, but I do not seek them out to have friendships as I would a Peter Stormare fan, or a Mark Hamill fan. And because of this, I find my appreciation of the band has dropped. I still appreciate what they do, but is not in a way that I can share, and that is sad.

You are most likely right, and yes, lots of people who love these are good people! Part too may be that it is "dorky" to be Star Wars fan, LotR fan, but because you are "dorky" it allows you to have fun! You are already insulted by the
mainstream world, so you have nothing to lose; therefore you can enjoy as much as you like and not worry!

>You've met Mark Hamill twice? Wow! That's terrific!
>I'm sure you've been asked this a million times, but
>how did you meet him (twice!)?

Maybe asked a million times, but trust me... I don't mind answering a million million times! :D

The first time was in 2000, he was in a film called "Walking Across Egypt" that was being shown in a theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. I had two good friends who lived within driving distance and one, who was a member of the Markhamill.com website, told me he would be at the showing. They made plans to go and made it clear I WOULD be there! How can I argue?

I met the woman who runs the markhamill.com, and she had talked to Mark's wife, had tickets set aside for all of coming in from other places. When I went to ticket window to ask for my tix, they misunderstood and sent us to press conference! Maybe because I was carrying the largest camera you have ever seen??? :)

The security patrol was misinformed about the event, and people that were supposed to be there, were not. There was a press conference, and somehow it ended up being one television man, and ME! I am a photojournalist and knew the pictures I would take would go to Markhamill.com, so I introduced myself to Mark, had a nice chat with him, and took lots of pictures! He was EXTREMELY nice, and when I told him I had a friend there, he wanted to meet my friend! He left the area of press conference to meet my friend! It was very cool!

The second time I met him was last year, in March. He was in a play called "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks" in Miami, Florida, and as I laugh I posted to the Markhamill.com message board, "Would anyone like to go? Road trip!" People wrote me back!!! So I had to go! :) Five of us went, and saw the play. Mark would come out of the back door after performances, and we met him a few times there. This was where he signed my copy of "Hamilton" (I tried to get him to sign it in 2000, but he was so surprised to see it, he did not get a chance!) and talked again about how great Peter Stormare was.

:) Part of Mark's admiration of Peter might be because he PUNCHED HIM OUT by mistake! Little known story, and was added to a documentary about the film: there is a scene where Mark is to hit Peter, and he --oops-- really hit him! It was terrible! Mark felt terrible and Peter was knocked out for a few seconds! He wasn't angry at Mark, though, as far as I could tell, and they hugged after they hit.

>Even though I have heard he's one of the
>nicest actors around, I wouldn't have had the courage

Mark is very disarming. He is a nerd, actually, who loves comic books and all sorts of things. He can talk to anyone and make you instantly forget he is "BIG STAR" in front of you. If you meet him some day, you will find him to be great!

Now if I could only meet Peter! :D

> I heard he's also supposed to be in another film with Nicole

> I just might go simply to see Peter Stormare!

Right on! Does anyone know how large his role is? No matter, because whatever he does, it will probably very fun and interesting!

Lol! It's great to meet another Middle Earth fan! Actually, this is an Elvish version of my name. In entirety, it is Luthien Fefalas or Dingaerwen. I rather liked the name, so I thought I'd put it to good use! As for Beren...not yet. And considering I've earned the nicknames "Bachelorette" and "Robot", from all the acquaintences I know, I guess it'll be a while before I do!

Thanks, it's great to be with some real Peter Stormare fans! Yes, I agree with you on his acting abilities. It's getting hard to find someone with that much talent. I am unfamiliar with Stellan Skarsgård, but now I'll be sure to start viewing his films! Thanks again!

Yupp!

Eyes open for Stellan too!
And as for Peter's films, be SURE to check out "Dancer in the Dark" where he does a role so different from everything else I've seen this far. Oh, and when you want to experience some SERIOUS voice-work, there's a kind of documentary "Flash Of A Dream" where Peter reads notes of Jacob A. Riis (he being a name worth remembering too). Oh, and do check his music :D) LOL now I better shut up!!!

;)

Thanks for the info! I've heard a lot of people say how good "Dancer in the Dark" is. I'll be sure to see it sometime soon! Along with his music :) Thanks again!
