Hi Cartooncheryl, Minna, and everyone else!

Cartooncheryl, the reply list was getting pretty long on my last message, so I decided to start a new one! I hope you don't mind if I reply to you here.

Yes, I am American (although I don't look it!) and am currently living in northern Virginia. I'm about forty-five minutes from Washington D.C. and a good hour from Richmond.

I was homeschooled from first grade through my eleventh grade and only attended public school for my senior year because I had completed my home curriculum. Going from homeschool to public school was hard...talk about culture shock! I could spend hours telling horror stories of that one year, but who would want to read that? :) I'm sorry to hear about the schools in your area. Where do you live, by the way?

Yes, you are right in saying that it is "dorky" to be a Star Wars fan or LoTR fan! I'm both and have been made fun of a lot by others. However, you are also right in saying that being "dorky" allows you to have fun (are you a Star Wars or LoTR fan?)! I consider it a part of my "screening" process when looking for friends. I like to be with those who are fun, accepting, and have a great sense of humor. A lot like some Peter Stormare fans I've met! :)

Wow, it's great that you've met Mark Hamill twice. I'm really happy for you! He's such a nice guy and so neat! I hadn't heard the story aout Mark punching Peter out--Ouch! I'm glad they remained on good terms with each other :) It would be great to meet Mark and/or Peter one day! It would also be wonderful to meet with all of you guys someday, too! :)

Wow, look at me ramble! I'd better go before I really label myself as a chatterbox :)

How dare you!? Hahahha! Just teasing! :D

Ahhh, you're not too far from me -- I live just underneath in the Carolinas. I may end up moving to DC area (very small chance); if I do you'll have to tell me nice places to see and visit!

>Star Wars fan or LoTR fan! I'm both and have been

Wooohoo on the former and that's terrible on the latter! Funny how people make fun of Star Wars or LotR fans, yet they too have seen the movies and probably really liked them! ????

> I consider it a part of my "screening" process when looking for friends.

That's a good idea. I'm sort of like that, in that it seems all my friends are dorks for one thing or another. The friend who met Mark Hamill with me lives in St. Louis and went to Dragoncon with me (BIG Sci-Fi convention in Atlanta Georgia, at the end of August each year) last year. We shared our room with total of seven people (YEP! 7!!!) She knew none of them, but really fell in love with all of them, even though she is a housewife and they are more like punk rockers! People have to have fun in what they do, not take themselves too seriously.

> It would also be wonderful to meet with all of you guys someday, too! :)

Yeah, it's very fun! Maybe Peter will someday do some event and we could all go and see him, swoon.... :D

Take care!

He, Luthien,

There's definitely something about fandom of Peter or LOTR or any GOOD thing (LOTR and Peter go beyond that word...)that connects people.... even me with Americans.... ;) (CCheryl, don't you dare to laugh!)

I'm a huge fan of LOTR but have a friend who has seen the movies some.... hm... 60 times? That made even me to rise my eyebrows a bit... caught them before they hit the ceiling though... :D

>Wooohoo on the former and that's terrible on the
>latter! Funny how people make fun of Star Wars or

Couldn't agree more! Stupidest thing to do...

>> "screening" process when
>looking for friends.
>
>That's a good idea.
Not good but BRILLIANT! Talking about such things seems to show a lot about the other person. I don't mind so much if someone says he/she doesn't know PS, for example, that can be treated, but if that persons says he/she doesn't LIKE PS then I mind A LOT - eh, CCheryl? ;) OK I don't expect people liking his characters, I might let some primal aggressions rule if I caught Milo Styles or Dino Velvet or that beast of "Purgatory" (check that one out too!) and wouldn't need to be afraid of getting to prison myself...

>all my friends are dorks for one thing or
>another.
CCheryl, I really am not sure how I should take that one.... :D)))))))

>> It would also be wonderful to meet with all of you
>guys someday, too! :)
Just hop on a plane and fly to Finland! Where I live we only have some 12-20 inches of snow left... lol

>Take care!

ditto!

Hey Minna, how are you?

BwhahahhahahaHaHAHA!!!

>I'm a huge fan of LOTR but have a friend who has seen
>the movies some.... hm... 60 times?

Sixty times? Wow! Those films are new and really long too, how do they have the time??? I can't say I saw the SW films that many times, but if you consider on video and over the years since released, maybe I have seen them sixty times, I don't know. I must applaud them, though.

>if someone says he/she doesn't know PS, for example, that can be treated,

:) I like the way you put that!

>but if that persons says he/she doesn't LIKE PS then I mind A
>LOT - eh, CCheryl? ;)

Oh yes, most definitely. I am pleased to say that's never happened to me, although what I find is nobody knows who Peter Stormare is! Once they are properly educated (locked in room and made to watch PS films with eyes pried open, LOL!) they become fans straight away.

>OK I don't expect people liking his characters... [snip] Dino Velvet...

I don't know why... I really do not know why... but I love Dino Velvet! I must have a sick, broken brain! Maybe it's not Dino per se, just the way Peter plays him. Other mean characters I don't fall in love with, so I am not all bad!

>>all my friends are dorks for one thing or another.
>CCheryl, I really am not sure how I should take that one.... :D)))))))

::sits Minna down::
I have bad news for you. You might be a dork! :D Hahahaha! Lucky for you, this is a good thing! It just never makes sense to me, the so-called "normal" people, the ones who don't get really interested in things. Or if they do, it's what kind of car that cute guy has, or what is on sale at the department store.

>Just hop on a plane and fly to Finland! Where I live
>we only have some 12-20 inches of snow left... lol

Is that all? I will be right over! Bleah.... It would be OK if you were measuring horizontally and not deepness -- one little patch in the yard, 12 inches across -- that would be good. :)

Hi Cartooncheryl, Minna, and anyone else!

I've been meaning to reply to you guys for a while, but I kept getting swamped with work. Now, I finally have a little time!

Cartooncheryl, you mentioned that there is a slight possibility of your relocating to the D.C. area-- that would be great! I would be more than happy to give you info on what sights to see, what to do, etc. :) Just let me know!

>>Just hop on a plane and fly to Finland! Where I live
>>we only have some 12-20 inches of snow left... lol

I would love to go to Finland, someday. It's such a pertty country!

>Is that all? I will be right over! Bleah.... It
>would be OK if you were measuring horizontally and not
>deepness -- one little patch in the yard, 12 inches

Lol! Actually, I like snow. Not to shovel, of course, but to see and to walk through... Perhaps this is caused by my five years spent living in Hawaii. After five years spent baking in the pounding sun in the middle of a pineapple field, I actually prayed for snow!

>>I'm a huge fan of LOTR but have a friend who has seen
>>the movies some.... hm... 60 times?

Sixty times? That is impressive! I love LOTR too, but I've only been able to see them a few times. It appears I have some catching up to do! :)

Minna, have you been to the LOTR fanclub website, www.lotrfanclub.com? I'm not a member, but I've been to the site. It's pretty neat, with a very nice messageboard and lots of links to other LOTR related websites.

>I can't say I saw the SW films that many times, but if you consider
>on video and over the years since released, maybe I
>have seen them sixty times, I don't know. I must
>applaud them, though.

Go Star Wars fan! :) I've probably seen the older trilogy about that many times and the newer films far fewer times (5, maybe?). I can't wait for this newest installment to come out!

>I don't know why... I really do not know why... but I
>love Dino Velvet! I must have a sick, broken brain!

No, you don't (believe me!)! A lot of my favorite characters in movies are the villains and my brain appears to be functioning just fine :) Let me know if you think otherwise! Don't ask me why, but I just seem to go for the bad guys sometimes. I find it ironic, considering I'm going into criminal justice!

>Maybe it's not Dino per se, just the way Peter plays
>him. Other mean characters I don't fall in love with,
>so I am not all bad!

No, you're not bad at all. Actually, you are a lot better than me! I don't know this Dino character (I've been looking everywhere for 8mm, but nobody seems to have it), but I've got quite a few evil characters on my "favorites" list: Dieter Stark (Lost World), Gaer Grimsrud (Fargo), Darth Vader (SW), Agent Smith (Matrix), Col. Tavington (The Patriot), and the list goes on. Yes, I'm very weird!

>>>all my friends are dorks for one thing or another.

I'm a dork and I'm loving it!

I couldn't agree with you more. I have a tough time talking to "normal" people because they are always interested in something that I am not (clothes, makeup, cars, guys, etc.) and vice versa. I remember being so fed up with the girls in my French class because of their obssession with clothes and the host of "Blue's Clues" (yes, that kid's show), that I was elated when I met one girl who began to talk about Civil Air Patrol. That elation evaporated when I later learned that was ALL she talked about! I prefer to socialize with people who can have intelligent conversations on a variety of topics and who also have some of the same interests I have, dorky they may be. I'm glad I've finally found some! :)

Hey!

I don't know... I might enjoy a new place, but I'm going to see if I can make a go of it here first. That would be great if I do make it up there, you can give me all the cool info! If nothing else, my friends relocated there and I do need to go visit them one of these days.

>I would love to go to Finland, someday. It's such a

Hee! I saw a photo of Finland the other day that made me laugh. It of a cabin by a lake in the forest, and in the foreground there was a bottle of vodka and a toy reindeer. All that was missing was a cellphone, elsewise they'd had all the stereotypical stuff in!

>Perhaps this is caused by my five years spent living in Hawaii.

Hawaii? That's neat! It must have been so beautiful there, swoon! I actually heard of it snowing there a few years ago, quite odd!

>A lot of my favorite characters in movies are the villains and

Ha, you're just seeing how the other half lives! :)

>(I've been looking everywhere for 8mm, but nobody seems to

Really? I got my copy quite cheap at one of the local chainstores. Can't remember if it was Target or Wal-Mart, or maybe like a Best Buy. If you can't find it to rent you should be able to find it easily in one of those.

>I'm a dork and I'm loving it!

Woohoo!

Hi!

>I don't know... I might enjoy a new place, but I'm
>going to see if I can make a go of it here first.

I've only been down to North Carolina, for a few times on vacation. Mostly around Kitty Hawk and the beach... From what I've seen, it's a beautiful state with lots of friendly people.

>That would be great if I do make it up there, you can
>give me all the cool info!

I would be more than happy to give you the info! However, a lot of people would not consider my choices to be cool! I tend to gravitate towards the museums and historical sites rather than any of the "fun" places, lol :)

>Hawaii? That's neat! It must have been so beautiful
>there, swoon! I actually heard of it snowing there a
>few years ago, quite odd!

I lived on the island of Oahu, which was pretty neat...for a while! It was beautiful there with dark, wet rainforests on the mountains and valleys filled with groves of brilliant green and vibrant flowers. The beaches were the best, esp. Hakauma Bay ( I hope I'm spelling it correctly). There, the water is crystal clear and you can see the huge droves of brightly colored fish that come up almost to the water's edge and further out, you can see the coral. Yes, it was pretty there and for the first two years, I liked living in Hawaii. After that, though, I was pretty much dying of boredom! They weren't kidding when they said isaland life was slow!

Yes, you're right, it did snow on the Big Island (Hawaii) a few years ago. It was bizarre! It was very hot on Oahu at the time and I remember being quite envious of the kids on Hawaii who got to run around in the snow wearing shorts! Last year, I heard that a company actually shipped snow to Hawaii so that the children could experience it. It actually lasted a couple of days, which surprised me.

>>I find it ironic, considering I'm going into criminal justice!

>Ha, you're just seeing how the other half lives! :)

Lol! I like the way you put that! I never thought of it that way... Now I don't feel so bad :) Thanks!

Thanks for the tip! I'll be on the lookout for it. I finally saw "Windtalkers" a few days ago. I was a little disappointed with it--Peter's role was too small! It seems like such a waste of talent, for me, to have him play such a minor character. I think that is why I was a little disappointed with "The Lost World". It always seemed to me that something was missing... that his character wasn't as developed as it should have been. After all, Dieter Stark was in second command, I would have thought he would have played a more substantive role in the story.

I see that I'm rambling again...I'll shut up now! :)
