I have to agree with the AA suggestion...it saved my life and through the 12-step process I am happier now than I have ever been in my entire life.
You stated it was a controlling factor...if you are physically dependent already you may need treatment/detox.
Maybe you can elaborate a bit on what you have tried thus far to stop.
