Subject: But do you?
In reply to: S'peer -- Scarth 's message, "I know you're going to keep turning away," on 11:38:11 11/21/05 Mon

Halzay gave a small sigh, but didn’t interrupt him at all. However, before she could say anything, Elizabeth’s voice entered her mind: {Sweetie, I think he’s trying. I mean, maybe he’s not who he used to be...}

‘You too?’
She thought grimly, but didn’t wait for a reply. She took a breath... and finally admitted the one thing she had never before wished to.

“Ok,” she said softly. “To make matters easier, let’s assume now that you’ve apologized... and I forgave you. Or, as much as I possibly can,” she added, not quite sure if she really did forgive him or not. While Halzay was the most trusting weyrling in her Hatching, she couldn’t quite forget the feeling of being torn. Rather than pursuing the subject, however, she continued with more pressing matters. “And, with your reputation, I could have you thrown out if I felt like you were threatening me or Sally. I mean this as in to say that I trust you at least to this extent,” she explained, remembering how his temper had flared all too easily before. And besides, that comment was meant to relay her meager trust in humanity, not threaten him. In any case, she certainly hoped her voice carried that message on.

Her tone became slightly lighter, almost sympathetic. “I’ve heard from ‘Laini that you’ve kept a clean record... so, naturally, I wouldn’t assume you’d hurt Sally now and ruin that. People assume alot... but I like to think there’s a little good in everyone... and that includes you.” She paused for a second again, and got her bearings. She was determined to keep the conversation going lightly. Despite common belief, Halzay was trying desperately to find some way in her heart to forgive him, move on... it was just MUCH easier said than done...

“Er...” Halzay said softly, trying to think of something else to say. “Well... I’ve met G’rein. He seems nice... he was a great friend of yours, wasn’t he?” Perhaps small talk would help her to be more comfortable with the situation...

Lizzie grumbled slightly to her former weyrmate. {This is a big step for her, you know. She really does forgive him somewhat, in a way. She’s just been accepting the fact that it might’ve been flight lust. Make sure yours doesn’t mess it up by questioning her motives or something, ok? Sometimes humans want to know why they’re forgiven and what not... really silly, actually, but hey, humans are humans. } She pondered for a moment. {I’m glad. I would’ve hoped you didn’t forget me, otherwise it would’ve been even MORE awkward meeting up again.}
