I recently saw an article from a popular newspaper syndicated column of the 50s which gave advice to moms and women in general.
One mother asked if it was proper for her two daughters to swim in a neighbor's pool where the boys were made to swim naked even up to teens together with girls in swimsuits.
The columnist answered that there was nothing wrong with it and would even be educational for her girls.
That was the reasoning in those days, and in fact many swimming places required the boys to swim nude while girls had to wear swimsuits, including in some schools.
I think this was a good practice to keep boys in place and inferior to girls. It is a pity that this rule is no longer in practice.
