Tara, this is a very sensitive issue for you & Chris. By all means you can take along your daughter but she should not be allowed in the room. You should not need her support though, you are capable of handling it yourself.

I think you should ask the doctor what she thinks first about you being there in the examination. The boy should be allowed his privacy & if she thinks that she can handle it alone with Chris be guided by her judgement. If Chris, is not responding to her questions, she can then invite you into the room. This is something you can tell Chris, before you go to her office, that is at home.

My 2 teen boys, 16 & 15 attend their appointments on their own, with me waiting in reception or his Dad. At 16, Chris should know a lot about his body himself. Give him a chance to be the young man that he is. So many things are changing in his life right now, especially living with you Tara.
