A big trip for us was to go to the department store in Traverse City. This was the 50s and pre-mall days. I was probably 6 as my little brother wasn't with us and he was born when I was 7. My mom was helping my sister with some stuff and I started fooling around on the escalator waling up the down escalator then riding it back down. My mom caught me and took me to the ladies room to deal with me. There was an outer lounge as you describe. I got my pants taken down and received a spanking. I had to stand in the corner pants and undies still down while my mom took my sister in side to use the toilet.
