Subject: Introduction from a new poster Author: Kelsey [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 12:48:16 10/30/22 Sun I grew up in the 80s and early 90s along with my one year old brother, being raised by a single father. Our mother wasn't mentally well and ended up leaving us when I was around 9 years old. My dad stayed strong in raising us alone but did turn to the bottle a bit. I would not call him an alcoholic but he was far from being a light drinker. He raised us fairly strict but he loved and cared about us. In truth though he did love us. He feared we would end up like our mother with mental health issues and I think he believed that basically keeping us under his control would somehow stop a mental illness from happening. He also wanted others to see him as no nonsense and strict and I feel that was because he didn't want people to think he was in over his head. God forbid the school or someone called him at work and came to talk to him about our behavior because that meant you were going to get it bad. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
