It is so nice to read from you!!!!! Olivia is doing most wonderfully! She is very alert and always smiling and not longer sleeping through the night.. LOL, oh well. She does sleep pretty well however. We tried to give her a great Christmas and took many pics. Because of reasons that I’m not going to type, I’m not able to breast feed so she is on formula, which is perfectly healthy for her. Yes, have have had Chardonnay again and it tasted SO good! But, I’m on a mission to completely lose my baby-weight as soon as possible and I’m working out like a crazy women. I don't think it needs to be particularly severe to get the point across, it depends on the misdemeanour. Most spanking offences, backchat, not doing chores, missing curfews, low school grades etc are annoying, yes, but not capital offences. A spanking entailing a few reasonable strokes should be enough to bring the miscreant back in line, even if for the embarrassment factor alone. And in answer to Rainy's point, I have mentio9ned before that parents who use spanking as the regular go-to punishment, may well have an ulterior motive, and get some enjoyment out of it. One can adjust the severity of the spanking depending on whether the offense is a serious or less serious one. I'll take a wild guess and say that it's assumed that the hairbrush can result in a severe spanking but less so for the hand. So more care is taken with the brush. The hand can of course have a similar result but the spanker but not have that perspective and so will spank more impactfully and perhaps cause more bruising and the like. A comparison may be between using a lexan paddle which requires less force and so is less likely to leave marks and the hand which could result in lots of marks because it may be applied more forcefully.
