Just suppose Marcelle was picked at National Teen. Emily Bell has already won a Miss Preliminary. How would that work?

I think they mean Emma Terry, who was 1st alternate at state, and has already won a Miss title. Should Marcelle win in two weeks, who would take the ALOT title?

Would a replacement be necessary? Not much to do between now and March.

I had the same thought at first, but thereís really no difference between now and when they replaced Jessica with Lauren. I think it just feels different because Marcelle has held the title for so long. And, there are still a lot of prelims to be held.

One of the other runners up might assume the title? If they accept. I would think that someone would have to fill the role if Marcelle wins the national title.

Sorry, I meant Emily Terry - Apologies to Emily and her family. This came to mind because I read a thread on the National page and someone thought Marcelle should be in the running!

Sure, but why let COVID continue to postpone or cancel things. Allow her to serve both roles. Why not?

Not sure it is fair to hold a Teen state title AND a Miss title even when considering the impact of the pandemic. Both of those titles come with very nice college scholarships. If she chooses to accept the Teen title then she should resign the Miss title and allow a runner up to assume the Miss title.

Emma Terry has to resign to accept it but she has a contract with Leeds so no one should even reach out to her about AL Teen in my opinion. She canít do both.

She was a Leeds teen tiltle holder and competed in March 2020 when she finished 1st RU to Marcelle. She won a Miss title in July 2021.

There will probably have to be a replacement for Marcelle, could be wrong due to the rule changes because of COVID. But every state has a titleholder.

Definitely do not think a replacement is needed at this point !! If there has to be one , it must be Emma Terry . Itís an unusual situation because of how long itís been !

Marissa Luna can not be the replacement . She competed in Teen USA. If anything , should go to Emma Terry. I donít personally think another MALOT is needed !

Emma deserves the title and the scholarship money that comes with it, just as Lauren Bradford did when Jessica Baeder won.

Crazy situation that is so appropriate for this crazy COVID time! Why not have an MALOT??!! In a normal year, the first runner up would have assumed the duties and the benefits. Emma Terry deserves all of the above. in my opinion, she shouldnít be penalized for having won a prelim! I am not the decision maker, I donít know the young ladies personally, i am just applying reasonable accommodations.

If you follow the rules, anyone who competed in another system has to give up their title. We will see if Miss AL cares. Will say alot.

Marissa Luna is the logical choice. She has raised more money for CMNH and has a wonderful platform. She did not give up her title and crowned the new Miss Shelby County OT. She deserves the scholarship money and would represent MALOT well.

Tell that to the board. I do hope they choose a replacement. Someone in the runner up category could use the scholarship money. They could go through the entire top 12 if need be and refer to the scores in order to present the opportunity

Read the contract. If she competed in USA she automatically gave up her title and should not have crowned the new winner. Every contestant deserves scholarship money and would represent MALOT well.

There is no need to fill the position. MAOT is not a busy year. Marcelle is going to Auburn and can make any appearances for the MALOTeen. Emma moved on to Miss. Marissa moved on to Teen USA. Life goes on. MALOTeen was almost a year and a half ago.

I am the parent of a contestant and I have never typed anything hhere before. My daughter and I were at two pageants this summer. One allowed their teen to perform and crown the new winner even though she competed in another system. At the other pageant the teen winner had competed in DYW and did not crown the new winner but was in the audience. I used these two very different situations to teach my daughter about doing the right thing and not doing the right thing as well as decisions and consequences. We are watching to see if bullying determines how this will be handled or if the right decision is made. That will determine if we continue in this program or not.

I don't understand. You can resign, compete in another system and still crown the next winner if the director invites you back. You aren't banned from helping out. It has been done more than once over the years. It depends on the local director. They made no other appearances but they let them crown because they were their last winner.

It should depend on the RULES not the local directors opinion of the rules. I know our society doesnít seem to care about rules anymoreÖbut they are there for a reason!

The old MAOTeen Instagram was managed by the old board, which is now known as Crown and Scholar. They still control the page, and recently removed all of the old MAOTeen posts. Thatís why there are no posts.

If Lauren wins Miss America, Lindsey Fincher will take over the Miss Alabama title, even if Lindsey has won a new title, right? So it makes sense to offer the title to Emma Terry, even if she holds another title.

As the MALOT 1st runner up to Marcelle, she should get to make the decision about which route she would like to go. If COVID had not happened, she likely would have assumed the role of MALOT following Marcelle's win and then gone to Miss Alabama afterwards. Think about it. This girl was first runner up for two years. Don't you think she wants the job? My guess is she wants it even if she has to give up the miss title.

But hereís the problem, Marcelle completed her year as Miss AL outstanding Teen, she should still receive her scholarship money too. She was crowned March 2020, she served Alabama for 1 and 5 months. Just my opinion.
