I do not see her in Top 10. In a year of very good talents her dance was a train wreck with far too many gimmicks. It almost came across as a comedic dance. Her strong point is evening gown and OSQ and she proved herself to be a competitor there. Her styling was not the best overall, especially her hair. This year is extremely competitive and to be at the top everything needed to be top notch. Zoe simply was not there this week.

She’s strong across the board. No real weakness. Not saying she’s perfect. I’ve heard her interview is very good. I’ve never interviewed her. On stage she is a standout. But this is a national pageant with some good competition. I’ll be surprised if she’s not a finalist. I could see her top five but you have to really wow them in interview to get that high. Hoping she will. She’s so fun to be around.

Zoe seemed ready before she left. I heard she worked hard to improve her interview even though it was good before. Her talent is her strength but there are so many dancers at Teen that I hope she can stand out in talent.

Can’t wait to see Collins compete in Miss. her scholastic achievements are extremely impressive.

I wish the finals were streamed for free. It’s 25 dollars and last year some people had problems with the stream.

Get a few friends together and chip in. That's what we do. I agree. $25 is a lot for one person to watch. But I understand. (Yes, $25 is MUCH cheaper than going but this is for people that are not going.)

Her dress is pretty and not low cut or too short. And her answer came across as natural. This girl should place in top five at least. Her talent is just as good as the winner from yesterday.

You have to be kidding me! Her dance was one of the worst. It looked like she was making it as she went, unfinished turns, bent knees, too much costuming/props, rolled ankles. I was shocked at the sloppiness of her performance.

No. Tony Bowls.

Zoe will do well in talent and is a great dancer. But Pennsylvania OT did an excellent job last night and I see why she won. The entertainment value was high as it was so fun to watch. Zoe should score well in talent whether she wins the prelim award or not.

If she wins talent tonight, a video will more than likely be posted on Miss America’s Outstanding Teen’s FB page sometime late tonight or in the morning. You might be able to talk to a teen that competed at MALOT this year and bought a video which shows the top talents. I don’t think that they would post them online.

Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen, Shae Smith, was named Thursday night's preliminary Talent winner for her jazz dance performed to "September" during the third night of the 2019 Miss America's Outstanding Teen Competition at the Linda Chapin Theater in Orlando. Shae will receive a $500 scholarship.

Also in the spotlight was Miss Arizona's Outstanding Teen, Katelyn Cai, who was the preliminary Evening Wear/On-Stage Question winner. Katelyn will also receive a $500 scholarship.

Academic Awards were a special highlight of the evening. This year's Scholastic Excellence Award for maintaining the highest grade point average went to Miss South Carolina's Outstanding Teen, Kellan Fenegan. Kellan will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The Outstanding Achievement in Academic Life Award was presented to Miss Arizona's Outstanding Teen, Katelyn Cai, for achieving a high grade point average and being actively involved with academic activities. Katelyn will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

No matter the outcome Saturday night in Orlando, Zoe has represented the state very well. She looks great and like she's having fun in the photos I have seen on social media. She won a prelim for Evening Gown and On Stage Question on the first night. Alabama has a strong track record at the national teen pageant. Zoe is kept it going.

With Zoe winning a EG/OSQ prelim I think that her interview had to be good. I thought that her fitness was good from watching the FB story but I wish she had tucked her shirt in or knotted it even with that fitness doesn’t count that much. That leaves talent and the scholastics score. Maybe they just didn’t like her talent but it was technically sound and I thought it was entertaining. Either way she has a lot to be proud of!

To be chosen by her peers as Miss Congeniality from contestants across the nation - that says something about Zoe and her heart. In some ways, this is a higher honor than the crown itself. And I know she remains humble and grateful. Very proud of Zoe.

No one is writing a book. I’m just curious because I thought she went to the same high school as Chandler. I was surprised, as a title holder we have right to know about their education, just like we know what college the Misses attend. I thought they announced her as going to a high school.

People need to educate themselves about new ways that students are obtaining their education. Zoe, as well as many other students across the world, is in Online High School. Her accredited education is through Alabama Connections, which is through the public school system of ALABAMA. There is a big difference between Online High school and Home School. It is not a home school where parents or Co-ops of parents teach their children themselves and are usually tied through churches. In Online High Schools, it is all done via computer as the name implies. Students tune in to watch live instruction by certified teachers. They can ask questions of the teacher just like in a regular class environment. Classes are also videotaped so they can go back to review a lesson if needed and can talk with teachers for more subject explanation if needed. Students do homework which is submitted online for grading. When the course is completed, the student takes a final exam on paper or online through an institution like a university or learning center where they are watched 100% of the time while they take the exam. The counselor must sign an affidavit that they were observed and followed the school’s no cheating rules. If they pass the course, they advance to the next class. As with all schools, they offer AP classes and dual enrollment. They are required to take the number of required classes and electives, just like students in a brick and mortar environment. Zoe is advancing in AP classes and is an honor student.
The advantages are many. A student can work ahead and finish the whole course instead of being held back waiting for other students to catch up. Once they pass a course, a student continues to the next one. With many schools, the student can take classes year round to graduate early, and they can also set the times of day that they study. Frankly, there is also less distraction and drama which allows students to focus on their actual education.
Online High School is no different than people taking accredited classes online for Universities across the country. This is the new way of education and I believe that the number of students who enroll in this format will only continue to increase.
