Subject: BU 76 - NU 65 - facts

Barea has another dismal shooting night 5-13 FGAs and he shot 1-5 from 3 point land. He's shooting a wopping 27% from 3 in conference. He's shooting NU right in the foot. He did add 2 assists.

Even for the hardcore NU fans his shooting is hard to defend and if he's not a shooter what is he???

The first half he played very well... Correct? I'd argue he kept NU in the game singlehandedly, offensively and defensively.

The second half he played like a freshman for what seemed like the first time all year. Whatever BU did at halftime worked. I'm giving credit where credit is due here. He had some poor passes and ill timed shots. Not a time for excuses, he didn't play well in the second half.

BU announcers kept referring to an incident involving Barea. They said that after the incident that he lost his head. I tuned in late to the broadcast. Can anyone who was at the game have any idea what the BU announcers were talking about?

There was a timeout when most of the players were on the BU end of the court. While BU walked towards its bench, someone brushed by/bumped (I was sitting right there and believe me it appeared unintentional) Berea, who over reacted by pushing Seymour, who kind of shrugged it off -- but Berea didn't let it go and shoved him again -- hard -- then said something in Spanish that must have been pretty bad because Dan Dacarret (who's from Peru, and obviously fluent in Spanish) started to approach Berea and had to be held back (he was on the other side of the bench when the pushing took place so was not invloved before that), then a few others got invloved to pull players away. IMHO, that incident was what put the fire back into BU's game -- they played fearlessly after that. Did anypne see it differently?

It all happened so quickly, I didn't even notice. I saw a stop in play, and the next thing I know the coaches were at midcourt and the BU Coaches were pulling players away. By the time I turned my head, it was almost over. It didn't seem like anything at the time, but it did probably ignite something with BU.

This I must say, and after seeing a whole season, I'm probably in a better position to say it, but Barea plays with SO much intensity, I'm wondering if, in cases like this it doesn't get the best of him. Against BC the intensity helped him big time (Troy Bell was giving him smack most of the game and you could see it got to him), but I'm not sure if in this case he tried to do too much after the incident.

I am not looking for an argument but can you explain to me why a player as talented (and yes I mean that) as Barea is allowed to fire away from 3 point land when he's shooting .277% in conference. Against weak rebounding teams like Albany it's like an entry pass but against others it's just as bad as a turnover. Seriously.
