Ours both got their first "quick spankings" (five or six hand slaps to their bare bottoms) around three and a half. During both of their age four years they each got two or three over the knees spankings, and by five it was over the knees and at least 10-12 good hand spanks. We introduced the paddle for both around age nine (still over the knees and bare, but because the hand just didn'tseem to be making much of an impression any more).
