I was strict about sulking and pouting because I saw it as an attempt to punish me by creating an unpleasant atmosphere in the home. So if it didn't disappear very soon I spanked for it.

If you are having a problem with pouting after a spanking, I wonder if you might consider being a little more thorough. When I had finished with Jack he was holding his red bottom and bawling like a toddler - a bit past thinking of ways to get back at Mum and in need a of a cuddle.
