Most of the time it’s just one warning here although there are times when I’m busy or distracted that they might get away with a couple of warnings. There are definitely certain things that lead to immediate spankings, as others have said, disrespect, lying, swearing, fighting with each other and absolutely slamming doors. That’s a big no.

Megan got a pretty serious spanking a couple of months ago for slamming her door after I’d scolded her about something fairly insignificant. That had happened a couple of times in the space of a few months so Steve warned her if it happened again he’d take the door off it’s hinges for two weeks which she didn’t like the idea of! We shall see if he needs to follow through on that threat!

Mainly my warnings in public will be something along the lines of “young lady, you’re going to be in a lot of trouble if that continues”. Whereas at home, I’ll be more explicit and say things like “Madeline, unless you want a good hard spanking on your bare bottom I suggest you stop that”, often accompanied by a few warning swats to their clothes bottoms. As soon as the word spanking is mentioned it tends to have the desired effect but not always!

I’ve never understood why parents threaten consequences then do nothing - it’s a sure fire way to encourage misbehaviour if you don’t follow up, whether by spanking or otherwise.
