After my girls became teens, it was very similar to what you described. One warning possibly combined with some swats and that's generally it although I'm sure I made some exceptions. When they were younger, they might have gotten an additional warning but not always. Of course some things earned a spanking with no warning (similar things as you).

I try to make my warnings as clear as possible and ensure that they knew that a spanking was the next step. Hearing the word spanking usually results in a quick change of behavior. Even in public, I would make sure that they knew they were close to a spanking even though I wouldn't swat or spank in public.

One other thing is that as teens the warning was not just for the next hour or rest of the day, etc. but for a couple days. No exact time of course, but if they did the exact same thing the next day then it might very well be straight over my knee given their recent warning.

These days how often to you find yourself giving warnings to your daughter and son?
