Candace, a good thread.

Carter certainly deserved a sound spanking, which you duly delivered. Why he did not listen and heed your warning, only he will know.

The number of warning of an impending spanking is a bit of a variable here, very much depending on the infraction. Certainly not 10 though! Once or twice, I'd say, for most stuff. No warning at all if his or her behaviour is such that it warrants a trip over my knee for some slipper therapy.

What ticks me off, Candace, as not doubt it does you, is empty threats. If you do not follow through on a spanking threat the child will (correctly) see this as weakness on the part of the parent. Then you are already starting to lose the battle as Mum or Dad.
