Mark,

Once I've bared their bottom, usually only from the waist down, and have given them a scolding/lecture, it will depend on how big the child is on how I take them over my lap.

With the little ones, as they are so short that 'turning them over my lap' is pretty much impossible, so I have always lifted them up and placed them on my lap. Never mind the fact I can put them exactly where I want them on my lap than having to readjust.

When they get to be older (bigger), I will take a hold of their hand and guide them over my lap. There is hesitation from them a lot of times, what Cherie said that "OH NO!" realization is very accurate. Almost always the children will also cry harder and/or become more desperate with their pleas when I take their hand and guide them over, as they realize that finality in their spanking, there is no going back. I usually hear something along the lines, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Pleeeeeaseee! I'm soooo sooorryyy!! I doon't waaanna a spaaankiiing!! PLEEEEEEEASEE!!" with that last ditch plea, even though they should well know it is fruitless.

Sometimes I will respond with this or something similar, "Oh yes, you are most certainly going to get a spanking. There is nothing to change that now. Maybe next time you will think twice before you ________/listen to Mommy when she tells you to _____." Or sometimes I won't say anything at all and just adjust them on my lap and start their hand spanking.

Besides the verbal pleading as I mentioned above, the only other resistance I have experienced is the children have sometimes run off when they knew a spanking was coming. But that usually has happened 'before' they were standing in front of me and in my grasp. But my children learned quickly that running from Mommy only earned them a longer and harder spanking and it was something they stopped relatively quickly.

There have been times it has happened with other children, that have been new to my lap (children I've babysat or when I first started spanking my grandchildren). But they too learned quickly on it was not wise to run.
