Oh my word! Your head must have exploded when you heard your daughter utter those words. Her punishment was just what she deserved.

Both my daughter who just had her 19th birthday and 16 year old son have had their mouths washed out since they were old enough to swear and understanding the meaning of what they are saying, when they were young and just repeating a word I sternly told them its a bad word and explained it is not allowed here and we talked about swearing. Then once they understood I started washing out mouths and then spanked. I use the same methods that you did.
