Lisa,

I have never had a child escape my lap during a spanking, but they have certainly done their best sometimes. They are also always very desperate while I spank, legs and arms kicking and flailing frantically. They also will sometimes bounce on my lap, from trying to avoid my brisk to rapid swats, but I have always been able to smack exactly where I've wanted to, much to their displeasure.

I don't punish them extra for doing so, as others have said, it is reflexive for them, doing anything and everything possible to avoid the swats or lessen the pain. But I hold them down firmly, hand around their waist. That will usually change to pressing on their back (with their wrist) when they begin to reach back. But if I need to, I will lock both of their legs with my right leg and there is no chance of them going anywhere. But I usually only need to do that when they are older and I have to administer a more serious spanking.
