Then one day he said "Sorry Mum, I was reading Harry Potter and forgot the time." At least that was honest!

And I knew I was lucky to have a boy who loved reading, so I didn't spank him but just gave him a warning about what would happen next time. I seem to recall it involved me taking down his pyjama trousers and repeatedly applying the back of my special hairbrush to his bare bottom.
