I had some friends that did that too. These friends had parents that did not spank a lot, but when they did the spanking was a bit on the severe side and memorable. These spanking were dreaded and cause for a lot of anxiety. A kid will sometimes cry out of fear or embarrassment. I'm on the fence here. On one hand, bawling before a spanking doesn't seem logical. Yet, knowing that the spanking is going to be traumatic, the kid is reacting out of great fear. Kids shouldn't be afraid of a parent, but spankings are a different story.

>Some kids already start screaming and crying loudly
>when a spanking is announced. I've never liked that
>and have more or less told my kids not to do that. If
>they are sad, roll a few tears, sniffle, and whine a
>bit ruefully, I understand and that's fine.
>While they're getting spanked, they can bawl and cry
>as loud as they want and need to. That's important,
>too.
>But when their pants aren't even off yet and they
>haven't gotten a single swat, I think loud bawling is
>completely over the top. It just upsets me.
>It is for me an attempt to gain sympathy and a kind of
>manipulation so that the spanking is not too long and
>thorough.
>How do you think about that?
>Do your children scream, bawl, shriek extra loudly
>before the spanking has even started?
