Longer answer, I actually vehemently told my mother that I would 'not' spank when I had kids. Of course I was only a child myself at the time, pre-teen to early teens. Usually it was when I was about to receive a spanking, myself. My mom just went "Um-hmm, we will see. But right now you are getting a spanking, and that's all that should be on your mind, young lady."
Of course everyone here knew how that worked out. My mom knew. And it didn't take all that much longer, when I began watching my youngest sister more often, that made me realize how spanking was needed, and how I 'wanted' to spank her at times. At 16, I got my wish and I did not look back.
By that point, I could already see the benefits of spanking (however much I hated receiving them) and had absolutely no plans on stopping. And had every intention on spanking my own children, which is exactly what I did.
And my strong belief of spanking has not waned in the slightest. I still do feel it is the best way to correct naughty misbehavior, nothing changes behavior more efficiently than a sound, bare bottom spanking over Mommy's knee. Or now Grandma's knee, with my grandchildren.
And I can certainly attribute it to the many spankings I received from my mother while growing up. So yes, it definitely influenced my decision to spank.
