My boys need their sleep and still do. During school I have strict bedtime rules, with me my bedtimes are written in stone, even when there is no school, as well as when we had the virtual schooling I had them during the week on their normal school routine and normal school bed times and getting up so it had the feel of school and not a vacation. Schools have always started early here, and I have my boys up at 6:30 so their bedtimes have been and still are early.
Bobby’s bedtime this school year has been 9 on a school night and 10 other wise, on sleepovers it’s 11. Donny and Scott’s are 10 on school nights and an hour later than Bobby’s other wise. Even when they both turn 17 as Donny just has they will still have their bed times, they need their sleep as I do :) and I feel they need the structure. If they are living at home and attending college they will also have a bedtime, what time well we will cross that bridge when we get there, with advice from some moms who have been there.
I will let them know 30 min before bedtime its time to shut off all electronics, phones and they are to bring their phones to the charging station in the kitchen and plug them in, yes I actually have to remind them to plug them in. I then let them know when its 15 minuets before their bed time and I expect them in bed at their bed times.
