Judy,

Your story reminds me of an incident with my middle daughter a few years ago when she was around 16 or so. I was in the kitchen making dinner when she decided to get mouthy.

Unlucky for her, I was cooking pasta and had a wooden spoon in my hand. While I would have normally just used my hand to give her a few warning swats, I used the spoon instead since it was already in my hand. The difference in her reaction was noticeable and she ended up with a stinging bottom and a few wet spots on her shorts since the spoon has been in water.

Lesson learned- don't misbehave when mom has a spoon in her hand!
