Maybe I'll add my two cents here. I think if someone told me that my daughter had acted up or done something wrong, I would take it with a grain of salt. It depends on how well I knew the person. Of course, I would discuss it with her. She knows my rules, and she knows what happens when she doesn't follow them. It would also depend on what she told me when it happened to. The way I look at it, I judge her behavior and the consequences for that behavior. I have one very close friend to who I would take her word, but only hers. People have different standards and different expectations. People also spank for various reasons
