I'm sure that Anna's son got spanked for his tantrum more than for wanting a new back pack. 16 years old, indeed. He's far too old for throwing a tantrum.

That being said, growing out of certain things DOES happen. It's like the lunch box with cartoon characters. Then it become just a solid colored one. Eventually, high school comes and it's a brown-bag. Backs packs are quite durable. If school is all its used for, I doubt a new one each year is necessary.
