Subject: Fair or Not Fair?

I meant to post this earlier, but never got around to it. My 20yo daughter had a dentist appointment early Friday morning (8am). As background, of all my kids, she is the worst at getting up and being on-time to things (even if not in the morning).

On Thursday, she asked if some friends could come over that night. I reminded her that she had an appointment first thing in the morning so it might not be the best idea to stay up super late, which would likely happen if friends came over. She said it would be fine and said she would get up with no issue. Finally, I told her she could have friends over, but if she gave me trouble getting up, was late to her appointment, or was a general grouch due to not getting enough sleep, then she would be spanked. She acknowledged my threat, but had her friends over and they stayed up late as expected.

Afterwards, I wondered if I should been so quick to threaten a spanking, but luckily it turned out to be a moot point as she got up and left in plenty of time. Later in the day, she took a short nap.

Do others think the warning was fair?
