How old is your grandson and granddaughter? I had the same problems with my 2 boys 11 and 9 yesterday when I took them back to school shopping. Like u I warned them ahead of time but it fell on deaf ears. When we got home I sent them to their room then gave them a good telling off then paddled both of their bare bare behinds. They too were two very sore, sorry and tearful boys when I was done. Hopefully they will learn their lesson like your grandson.
