This isn’t really an issue for my daughter yet but it has been with my son. We would never punish in any way for grades if we know he is working hard. He’s a very good student so that hasn’t so much been an issue. His school issues such as they are deal with him being a chatterbox in class and constantly having to be told to be quiet and only one issue of major attitude towards a teacher last spring. When they brought back his school to actual in person learning the poor school was desperately trying to enforce social distancing amongst a bunch of elementary school kids. From what I gather not terribly effectively. One day very late in the school year he had been told to stop bunching up during lunch and eventually had a fit and gave the teachers aide some major attitude. I found out about it in a phone call that night. When I confronted him after the phone call he started crying because he knows disrespect means an extended trip across mommy’s knees. Needless to say I absolutely sizzled his bare little butt so hard that my hand was almost as much on fire as his bottom was. It was one of the earliest times I had the first serious thoughts about introducing an implement. So far no issues this year.
