I have enjoyed reading your posts, as well. I also didn't need to wash my children's mouth out with soap too many times for swearing up to Noah's age, I had more issues on that (and more so with my son) when they got to be older. Their mouth soapings at a younger age were more due to lying or giving a lot of backtalk/arguing with me (tantruming).

As I shared in my reply to Candace about her son Carter, if we were neighbors I would be happy to babysit Noah. Thank you for your trust in me spanking him when it became necessary. As Noah sounds like your normal 10 yr old boy, I am sure he would have been over my lap often enough.

Lisa, good for you in the spanking you gave to Noah this morning for his behavior at church. I have always been very strict and have had high expectations on behavior at church with not only my children, but with other children that are under my care at the time.

I am not sure what Noah had done in Sunday School to not behave, but that likely alone would have earned a spanking from me. But like you, I also expect the children to sit still enough during the church service and actually pay attention if they are old enough.

I handle it much like Mary has with her boys where if the children can't behave during the service, then we will take a walk downstairs to one of the Sunday School classrooms where I will give them a good, sound spanking. It's unfortunate you are not able to do so with Noah at your church, but it sounds like he certainly received the spanking he needed and deserved once you got home.
