I had been meaning to reply to this message for a couple of days, but then got involved in writing up the post about Andy's spanking from Wednesday and wanted to reply to everyone (including yourself) who have been able to respond to it. I have really appreciated everyone's replies.

I am in complete agreement with you on what you said in regards to Andy. Don't get me wrong, he has matured in many respects, like last year he was able to start watching himself after school for a couple hours until his mother got home from work. But he still has a lot of growing to do, and I really don't think he is quite there yet, maturity-wise, for a 15 yr old. Also, a couple of hours at home by yourself is a big difference than all day.

I did express my feelings with Diane in the beginning, but she wanted to give it a try. And it really is up to her. Fortunately, it didn't take long to realize for Diane that it would be for his best interests to still be with me in the day during the summer.

Candace, I couldn't agree with you more that the additional time he will assuredly spend over my knee this summer (due to being with me every day) will benefit him a great deal, in keeping his discipline much more consistent. Of course it's something you won't find him calling a 'benefit', but the children never do. But that's why we are the Mom(my) and know what's best for them.

You asked the most recent spanking I had to administer when I mentioned it wasn't Andy's this past Wednesday. At the time I wrote that post my most recent spanking was with Julian on Friday afternoon. He threw a temper tantrum when I told him he needed to turn off the TV to come into the dining room for lunch. A temper tantrum in my home has always been a quick way to earn a trip over my lap.

However, I have had to spank again since then. I needed to spank my 9 yr old granddaughter today when my oldest came over with her family for a few hours. In having yet another hot day, the pool was put to good use and Kathy (my granddaughter) pushed her 4 yr old brother into the pool. AJ (her brother) is able to swim, and thank God he was ok, but Kathy knows that is one of the BIG pool rules of never to do.

I was the one who saw it happen so I took the initiative of the situation. After checking to see AJ was ok, which as I said he was fine, I pulled Kathy out of the pool and over to the patio, peeled off her one-piece swimsuit and gave her an especially long and hard spanking, with my hand and hairbrush, on her wet bottom and thighs. I wanted it be clear to her that she NEVER does that again.

Besides her deep red bottom and thighs, she was well-marked, including some blistering, from the brush when I had finished and will have a good deal of difficulty sitting comfortably for awhile. But I spanked her as long and hard as I intended to. She needed that memorable of a spanking. Something that will hopefully make her stop next time in remembering the serious spanking Grandma gave her today.
