The teachers in IDA joined with Chomhdhail because they wanted their dancers to have a top level, international event that they could attend. While anyone can start a new org, being able to provide Oireachtas, National or World Level competitions takes hundreds of thousands of dollars, and intense contract negotiations and planning. You can’t just pull that out of thin air. Additionally, it takes a significant amount of startup money for any new group, as well as hundreds of hours of time that you must invest on planning, launching, running the group, as well as legal fees. THEN you still have to deal with all of the negative nellies that constantly put you down because they can’t see outside of the clrg cult that any other dance organization could be valuable in its own right. It’s a thankless endeavor- BUT it really is the right thing to do. Any of the teachers that had the drive to make a change already made it. The rest left may be well intentioned- but are not strong enough to put in the time and effort or are simply afraid to leave the cult.
