In reply to: Not ok 's message, "Or how about when a TC makes comments on a childs weight? Friends transferred to more competitive school and were told the child needed to lose weight before new TC would "work" with her." on 10:37:01 02/07/18 Wed

If the dancer is transferring for better results, then yes weight may be a factor. If a dancer is overweight to the point it is hindering their endurance, spring, and speed, then yes weight is the issue...not necessarily the former teacher. If the dancer is weak in all of these areas, a healthier lifestyle may be just the thing to help the dancer's results in competition.

If the dancer dances for the pure satisfaction of dancing and results are not a factor in why they continue to dance, then no, weight should not be an issue or even mentioned.

If the dancer tells the new TC they are unhappy with results from prior dance school, then the teacher is just being honest.

Of course, weight is a sensitive issue. But it may indeed be the reason for placement.
