Subject: There's no rule regarding splitting. It will vary from feis to feis within the region. You don't want hypotheses, but to be honest, we can feis every weekend, and often twice a weekend, in the MAR, while other regions like the ECR can't say the same.

So 3 firsts is way easier to get - try getting two when you live near maybe a dozen feisanna a year within a 10 hour drive. The reality is: if you're ready for opens you'll beat 40 to get there. If you're only beating 5, for instance, and get in, you're going to have a sorry time of it in opens for a good while.

  • I think those splits for Canada is a generalisation. We are WCAN and in grades my DD never saw that. They only have to split at 40. A feis may choose to split though. Prelim was never split and double age. -- *, 21:25:40 02/20/18 Tue
