Subject: In an effort to clarify, the one in November is just a "special" competition at a regular feis with the hopes of boosting entries for the feis, nothing more than that. The NAFC sanctioned and sponsored "Belt" competitions will take place in January. That one is the historic and well-respected one.
In reply to: GAC 's message, "OP asked about the Belt in NOV. There are 2 "Belts". The Nov one is held with the SD Dakota State Championships (more info below). The other one, held by the NAFC, is the 2019 NAFC Championships: 1/19/19 in Sacramento. OP was asking about the one in NOV and that is precisely what I responded to." on 11:05:08 09/19/18 Wed

A feis can call any comp whatever. For some reason, this one feis has decided to confuse people with their naming of their special comps.

The NAFC Belt is open only to those OC dancers who've achieved a first over the past year. The SD Feis special is open to any OC dancer, who wishes to enter (and travel that far to just feis). The actual "NAFC Belt" was actually two trophies and one belt (for the oldest age group) and because over the years, more people referred to it as the "Belt" all three age groups now have belts (the minor and junior trophies were retired and new belts were brought in).

There are not "two belts" only the one by NAFC is the actual "Belt" No matter what the feis decided to call their "special" comp. The same was done by an Irish dance school this past summer, too. They held a "special" to attract other dancers. It's a way to get more entries (and money) into a feis.
