Let me start by saying that we can thoroughly understand your frustration and that is due to your not fully understanding what goes on a week out from the feis.

All the placement trophies, eg first, second, third, etc. have all been ordered based on the original competitions. Same with the sashes. Trophy companies need the time to print the placement strips, build the trophies and/or embroider/print the sashes. Those were all ordered some time ago.

Final numbers for non-placement trophies and grades awards are what they are finalizing orders for. They do not require additional identifications, only the preset feis name.

Adding more placement trophies a week out adds even more expense to the event and incurs additional fees to do so (think, charges for overnight shipping and this is not done by Amazon Prime) - and since the main order for all of these was already set and done, it would be more to do for the additional comps less than a week away.

The feis still needs to cover the expenses of adjudicators and musicians, and may have had to acquire one or two more, and if there weren't enough second chancers as hoped, then those costs still have to be covered.

The feis committee is doing it's best for your dancer by giving those who do place something. If you wish, you could take whatever gift card your dancer receives for a top placement and have a trophy created if that is what will make your dancer happy. I know that came across as a bit snarky, but, think about it for a moment. Who is going to "treasure" the award more "forever" - you or your dancer?

If your dancer gets that first, that moment when number and name is announced and your photo, snapped at the moment - that is what will be treasured the most.

If the feis gives out some little trophy, they would be bashed for that, too. Adding a second chance moment, especially for prelim dancers in this region, was a wonderful - and not often done - gesture.

I hope you will be more understanding and appreciative. After all, it was your choice to enter your dancer into an optional competition, wasn't it? You didn't have to enter, that was all on you.
