Subject: However, there are those that advertise strictly 'blackout' yet, a regular feis can't impose 'costume only' can it? People would say that's not fair, wouldn't they? Why can't a dancer wear full costume at a 'blackout' feis then? Think about it. It is very limiting to those wishing to compete

The blackout feis idea was a gimmick, only, in an attempt to get more entries (money) for a low-attendance feis, nothing more. One feis tried it, lots flocked to it, only to see that it really doesn't showcase dancers all that much more than with costumes.

People can say that it focusses on the dancing. It really doesn't do that, to be very frank. The top dancers will still be the top, middle of the road, still middle, and those working way up, will still have to work their way. It is a waste, though. For many who just spent scads of cash on a costume, that sits in a bag, and to have to purchase black outfits, additional cash.

Truly, think about it. Why?

And now it has gotten passé. It was a fad that hopefully, is starting to go. Because, and think about this, would you think the World championships would have the same excitement and, dare it be said stage drama if all the dancers wore black? Nope.

Not a fan of the blackout and won't be.
