Subject: Rambling thoughts in answer - our TC will not let us feis in a leo except at a blackout. My niece's school will allow it only if truly waiting for a dress, not just because a dancer prefers it. Both girls love it, they hate the uncomfortable wigs and the heavy dresses and feel they dance...
In reply to: not stirring, just an honest question 's message, "Think that's what the posters have said. It's whatever floats your boat, but why restrict people (either way)? What if a feis said, "only costumes" what would you do, then? If you can wear whatever at any other feis, then why is a 'black out' feis really necessary?" on 09:16:09 05/15/19 Wed

better without them. So perhaps although a normal feis doesn't restrict a dancer to costumes only, a TC's rules might. Another thought, if it's just a novelty to increase entries, what's wrong with that? After all, isn't that what the special dances are for (other than the charity dances), to increase the finances for the feis? I don't see why it's a problem for a feis to decide to do a blackout if the only reason is to make money by boosting entries. And if it's working, then it proves that it's a popular option, right? But what makes it popular would disappear if they didn't restrict dancers to blacks, then it would just be like any other feis.
