Author: Is this how we alleviate the PC bottleneck?
Subject: Is anyone else tired of the plethora of 2nd chance comps?

My dancer is not in PC so I have no sour grapes but it seems like every feis offers 2nd chance prelim comps now. It makes them more money and families are eager to do the two birds, one stone thing. The 2 comps are judged by different ADs, but it’s the same dancers minus one or two. It almost defeats the point of requiring 3 firsts to move up. Proving you can beat the same dancers again on the same day and proving it wasn’t a fluke isn’t the same as winning a 2nd feis against different dancers in a different environment on a different day, esp when the comps are small. The top 5 has a better chance of a different order the 2nd time when it’s a group of 40 than a group of 15 or 20. I wish they’d put a min registration limit on the number required for a feis to have a 2nd chance option.
