Subject: Judges have always known schools by choreography. As for dressmakers? Kind of hard for a dressmaker to give out 20 or 30 firsts in a comp for all the dresses that are there. Most dress designs are farmed out, would be hard pressed to know exactly if a design is own or another.

Do you want judges who haven't taught? Or who haven't judged in years? That occurred at a recent feis and the scores were so off for many dancers. Judges need to have a connection to current trends.

There is no perfect system, what does work for a major is to have larger, rotating panels and dropping of high and low. What also worked to a degree was the system in place at Worlds, with the heat system; however, the panels needed to be mixed every other day, along with having judges from every region represented, not primarily one school, country, or region.

BTW, ethics are improving with many of the younger AD's. Light at the end.
