In reply to: Will never be a WQ, just not that talented 's message, "Completely agree. And my dancer was close to quitting from frustration that she couldn't get out of prelim, so I don't really care if she quits from frustration over not placing in Open. Frustration at either level, but at least she'll know she made it to Open, which is really her goal" on 07:46:50 07/25/19 Thu

Look, most of these older kids KNOW they are not placing once they get to open, especially the older teens who have been in prelim for a long time. It's not about that; they are not looking to take anything away from your "open" groups. Many are balancing other sports and school and jobs with dance and simply want the chance to reach a personal goal and "make it" to open. As I said above, for us the 2nd chance has been eye opening. I can't stress enough that most times the same child doesn't win both (therefore where is the "rush" you speak of?)

If the same child isn't getting to open on the same day (and really who cares if they are) and dancers are staying in the game longer now and not quitting out of frustration, how can that be bad?

It really sounds like sour grapes to me. "My kid didn't get a second chance so yours shouldn't" OR "We don't want all these lowly untalented dancers in OUR open groups."

It's gross. Just stop it.
