Adult Mid Atlantic oireachtas comps -- Really annoyed, 16:24:04 11/26/22 Sat [21]
There are two dancers in comp 73 adult division .. I know they danced last year as well. These girls are not the age for the championship they are entered into . This teacher gets away with this all the time and nothing is said. How is that fair to other adults who practice so hard especially in the over 31 comps where we can barely walk yet alone dance 😊

This is not fair and you can’t find Jimmy Earlys email anywhere since he is the regional director. When is this going to stop. I don’t want to dance in either the solo championship or ceili because it’s not fair. My teacher wants to try to talk me into it. I said to my teacher why can’t Jimmy Early be to,d about this. It has put a really bad taste in my mouth because they get away with this

    - They don't compete at Worlds. There is no adult category, only Senior Ladies and Senior Mens. Adult competitions at the regionals are one-off competitions and do not progress or qualify for Worlds, same with Trad Sets. Did anyone notice the ringers in the ladies adult ladies four hand who got first. Two of those girls have not followed the five year rule. I watched the whole comp and there were other teams better than them, I think they had another team that placed third and they were just as good. It’s about time the director opened his eyes and saw you can’t put girls that don’t follow the rules up against women that do. There is a big difference between a young girl and and adult woman! Our school didn’t do bad but we would have done better if we didn’t have babies in the competition competing against us.These girls that won are barely out of diapers and they are dancing against 30-40 year olds. How is that fair? Divide the adult competitions. You have girls leaving senior girls and going into the adult division. This is totally unfair. There has to be some rules made to divide the age groups. Everyone goes with the hope of winning but how can you if your dancing against dancers half your age? The commission needs to take a good look at the adult division. Adults practice just as hard and want to win as well but how is it possible to do so if your dancing against young girls not ADULT WOMEN. THATS WHY ITS CALLED ADULTS! We all think it’s the same thing again. The teachers want to see the adult division gone. Unfortunately there are too many adults returning and competing and it’s growing. I know overall numbers were low, but was wondering if some didn't show that were listed to dance? Usually in past there was like a 5-10% no show rate for older kids (age 17 and above). Was wondering how it was this year. Was nice to see some fresh faces on the podium this past few days!

Time to create additional competition Category -- DF, 18:50:24 11/26/22 Sat [10]
In response to the complaints concerning improper designated competitors in the Adult competition; here’s a suggestion which works for everybody. Create an over 30 new senior lady category and a new Returning or Novice Adult Category. There are many dancers who are dancing and want to continue dancing as well as those returning to the Irish dance world who have not been away for 5 years as well as others who are trying to compete for the first time. This is a great way to continue to encourage others to join and to enhance the beautiful world of Irish dance for all ages.

The demand is there, look at the number of competitors at the NAIDC comp last July and the great numbers on both the senior lady and Adult competitors.

  - A percentage of adults are former Prelim and Open dancers. To juggle all that life has for adults, to re train to get back up to speed and stamina is a HUGE undertaking. There are also adults who just began dancing and do this for fun. -- NT, 19:26:28 11/28/22 Mon
