Bill Finley, the author, said that Fordham did not have the talent that Manhattan has. This is true; Fordham is not as talented as Manhattan. But to imply that there is such a huge talent disparity between the two teams in terms of talent isn't totally accurate, in my opinion, and as I've pointed out a number of times, it is youth, a lack of depth, particularly up front, and a suspect game plan that are the main culprits here.

This had the potential to be an excellent article. Unfortunately Finley just glossed over the two programs and didn't dig very deep. He could have spoken about the size of each school, their facilities, administrative support, or lack thereof, and he neglected to mention that while Manhattan is 18-3, they are also in the MAAC, as opposed to the Atlantic 10. No doubt the two programs have been going in different directions, but it's pretty obvious that Finley doesn't know all that much about each of them.

I also took issue with the part where he said that Manhattan hired "as assistant that nobody knew" in Gonzalez. Gonzalez had a reputation as one of the best recruiters in basketball before he came to Manhattan. He wasn't some "unknown". It was statements like that that showed that Finley really didn't dig very deep, and doesn't know a whole lot about either program.
