Subject: Still a shot at NIT?

Just a quick look at the Sagarin ratings...Saints are currently 151. Wouldn't sniff the NIT with that rating last year. However, the NIT did expand to 48 teams for this year. Including the Big Dance, 113 teams will be in postseason play. There are roughly 20-22 teams rated higher than Siena that have losing or .500 records. If Siena can somehow get to <130, they may have a shot - assuming about 20 teams finish sub .500 above them in the ratings.

If Saints can finish 11-7, 18-10 - get at least a split in the tourney, they finish 19-11. I believe Wagner received a bid last year or the year before with 19 wins and got in the 32 field NIT. A win over Manhattan (or two, maybe once in the tourney) would give the Saints a nice bump in the ratings.

I'm reaching for straws, but I don't think the Saints are 'dead' yet re: NIT - though they are on some sort of morphine drip.

This all moot, of course, as Siena will defend it's MAAC title.
