For people who argue like you understand basketball, you certainly show a minimal knowledge of what is going on. Next year it is a fresh start for the 5/8 rule. It does not matter what you gave this year. You can start the new time table by giving five if you have five available ships. So do you count of current ships given. Subtract out those who will graduate. If you come up with 8 or less, you can give five next year. If you do not come up with the number 8 you also can force some kid out, have a kid who fails academically, or renege on a commitment, but we all know Siena is above such low level activity. Also it is against NCAA regulations to bring a "recruited" athlete in by giving him aid other than athletics. The operative word here is a recruited athlete. Now you can give one a ship on the soccer team if you want. If you have contacted him for basketball, the only valid way to get him in is to offer an athletic ship. Of course some schools learn how to beat the system like St John with Stanley last year and Iona with Eddie Starks. In these cases the kid decides to come, with no known recruiting, on aid programs. Make you wonder how the kids chose those schools.
