Back when the Stags were winning consistently, they were selling out Alumni Hall and it seated about 3,200 back then. Fairfield's big problem has been 20 years of losing basketball. If the Stags had Siena's success over the past 10 years, their attendance would easily be 4,000+.

In addition, if you recall, FU had drawn up plans for a new on-campus arena. It was patterned after Georgia Tech's and was going to be bowl-shaped and seat about 3,000 or so.

Two big reasons the Stags are in Bridgeport:

1) It's a heck of a lot cheaper than shelling out many millions of dollars to build on-campus.

2) The town presented a big obstacle.

If the team doesn't continue its current winning ways and improve attendance, I would guess that they will be back on campus, eventually in a new arena, when the contract expires or shortly thereafter. Should be interesting.
