GAME NOTES: MAAC preseason favorite Manhattan will attempt to hand Siena its
first league loss of the season, as the two teams square off at Draddy Gym in
Riverdale, New York this evening. With victories in each of its last three
games, Siena has improved to 8-3 on the season. The team's most recent win
came on Saturday by a score of 89-81 over Providence. The Saints' two MAAC
wins occurred back in early December over Canisius and Saint Peter's. Like
Siena, Manhattan owns an 8-3 overall record after posting wins in four
straight contests. The Jaspers improved to 2-1 in MAAC play on Saturday with
an 81-73 decision over Marist on the road. Tonight's game is only the third at
home for the squad this season and the first since December 21st. Manhattan
owns a comfortable 38-22 lead in the all-time series between these two teams,
including victories in both meetings with Siena last season.

The trio of Prosper Karangwa, Michael Haddix, and Tommy Mitchell have gotten
the job done for Siena this season at the offensive end. Karangwa is shooting
a shade under 40 percent from the floor, but he leads the team in scoring
(16.8 ppg), rebounding (6.9 rpg) and assists (4.8 apg). Haddix is second in
rebounding with 6.6 rpg to go along with 13.7 ppg. As for Mitchell, he is
netting 12.4 ppg as one of the team's top three-point shooters. The Saints
are scoring an average of 76.2 ppg and surrendering 70.9 ppg to opponents.
Karangwa scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the win over
Providence, and Haddix pitched in 20 points. In that game, Siena held a
commanding 52-33 rebounding advantage, including a 19-13 edge on the offensive
glass. The squad also put forth an 8-of-17 effort from three-point range and a
33-of-44 performance from the line.

Luis Flores was outstanding for Manhattan in the win over Marist, as he poured
in 27 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Mike Konovelchick was impressive as
well with 22 points and six rebounds, and Jason Benton added 11 points. The
Jaspers shot 54.9 percent from the floor in the contest, including 41.7
percent from three-point range. They also held a commanding 43-27 rebounding
advantage and outscored the Red Foxes 20-13 from the free throw line. At the
defensive end, Manhattan limited Marist to 37.9 percent shooting from the
field. Perhaps the only negative that can be points out about the Jaspers'
performance is that they turned the ball over 19 times. Overall this season,
Flores is averaging 21.5 ppg to lead the squad. Dave Benton is second in the
scoring column with 14.4 ppg and tops on the boards with 7.9 rpg. Jared
Johnson rounds out the double-digit scorers for Manhattan with 11.4 ppg.

Both of these teams are playing outstanding basketball and figure to be two
major contenders for the league title. A win by Siena would be huge, as it
would give the Jaspers two losses in MAAC play. While the Saints are capable
of getting it done tonight, expect Manhattan to successfully defend its home
court in what is sure to be a close game.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Manhattan 75, Siena 70
