As a Buffalo Big 4 basketball fan of all the WNY area Division I basketball programs and as Canisius alum which in my case doesn’t matter but for it does so I will state for the record I was also a Griffs basketball team manager long ago. So I have seen both these programs have highs and lows. I followed the old Little Three basketball when I was a kid. I never stopped rooting for the other three schools UB, St Bonaventure and Niagara just because I went to Canisius College. The WNY area schools don’t understand that many Buffalo fans want the best if is Niagara great if is UB great. Just because you go to a school doesn’t mean you are done with the other WNY schools rooting for. Buffalo is unique that way we Buffalo have four programs compared to one in places like Syracuse. Buffalo is more like Big Five Basketball in Philadelphia but on a much smaller scale. With that said what is happening at Canisius College and Niagara University is truly sad. I just want these programs improve and I don’t care how they do it just get better.
Unfortunately Canisius is at the bottom along with Niagara because there facilities need major renovations regardless of both these schools alums being in denial blaming the Buffalo sports fans or the media when it is both schools administration completely not wanting to get better and change. Again I am not changing off that Buffalo sports fan position regardless of how many Canisius alums and Niagara alums don’t want to hear it and face reality running to moderators to silence voices of truth. The reality is WNY has never warmed up to the MAAC that is reality. Reality Canisius and Niagara are in a crummy single bid MAAC conference the New York City Metro bus league (MAAC) because both Canisius and Niagara basketball have sub par Division I basketball facilities. Both Canisius and Niagara need to get up to 5,000 seats in a fully renovated basketball facility like Reilly Center and UB Alumni Arena with dollars commitment at the Atlantic 10 conference level so both Canisius and Niagara can join the Atlantic 10 multiple bid NCAA conference or just call it a day and forget Division I basketball anymore because MAAC basketball in 2,000 seat practice facility boarding on high school gyms isn’t working in my opinion. Go Purple Eagles! Go Griffs! Go Bonnies! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

Gotta agree with Phillyeagle on this one...a brand new 5,000 seat basketball facility would be a wonderful thing for both Canisius and Niagara but the money's just not there. I think both schools are in the conference they belong (MAAC) and would hemorrhage Cash and Losses if they were to try upgrading to the A10...not an issue because neither school has what it takes to gain admission to that conference anyway...they're not wanted.
